Farriery Courses

To become an accredited or registered Farrier in Australia generally
requires completion of Certificate 3 in Farriery which is a 3-4
year TAFE course.
However there are no restrictions on anyone trimming or shoeing
horses, or in calling themselves a farrier, or in advertising
for business.
It would be worthwhile for anyone running a business as a farrier
to keep a logbook and business records of all horses shod, shoeing
purchases and financial transactions, as this can count towards
RPL (recognition of prior learning).

Many Outback Cattle Stations now use horses (I have been teaching
Hoof Care on many for the last 6 years) and many offer Certificate
3 in Agriculture (but not in Farriery), and some of this could
be used as RPL (recognition of prior learning). Have a look at
